How do you tell if a free online offer is actually good?

When I'm browsing online and see an offer for something "free," my first instinct is usually to click. But then I stop and think, "Is this actually a good deal, or is there a catch?" I came across an interesting article at https://mastdp.com/why-free-feels-so-powerful-in-digital-life-from-dp-downloads-to-online-bonuses/ that talks about how the word "free" can make us overlook details, suggesting that not all free actions carry the same responsibility. It highlights that understanding what "free" truly means in each situation is key. This made me wonder, how do you all go about evaluating online free offers? What are your personal checkpoints to determine if something is genuinely beneficial or if it's masking hidden conditions?

For me, the first thing I check is the source. Is it a reputable company or a site I recognize? If not, that's an immediate red flag. Then, I look for any fine print, especially regarding terms and conditions. If those are hard to find or overly complex, it raises suspicion. A genuinely good free offer usually has clear, straightforward terms, even if there are some limitations.
