Choosing headgear
My gym finally moved me into light sparring and said I need to bring my own headgear. I don’t want to overspend, but I also don’t want something that makes sparring miserable. What features actually matter for beginners?

I remember being surprised by how different every headgear felt too - one squeezed my face, another messed with my breathing, and one of them made it feel like I was looking through a tunnel. What really helped was learning how much the cheek padding and the cutouts affect your vision. I found a really clear explanation on fight supplies, and it broke down the difference between open-face and closed-face gear in a way that finally made sense. After that, picking something light and not annoying to wear became way easier.
